Troll

Standard Size Category: 5’6–10’

Trolls are generally passive and slow of body and mind. Trolls like it when the people around them are happy, and as such they naturally lean toward improving the lives of those around them by making themselves useful. Because Trolls don’t tire easily, they don’t mind work and are frequently utilized by other kin for their strength. In general, there are two things regarding attire that matter to a Troll: sentiment and boots. Regarding sentiment, Trolls frequently wear items that are given to them. Other kin rarely think of Trolls outside of their employment roles, and they are frequently left out of celebrations and ceremonies. Trolls also don’t typically own many belongings. As a result, gifts from those they care about are valued and kept on their person. Regarding footwear, Troll society sees boots as a mark of status. This is not done in a competitive way, good boots are simply a point of pride. Trolls’ most common occupation is as a hired laborer for a fixed amount of years. This arrangement of selling their own people’s labor is done entirely willingly, but resembles slavery closely enough to make some other cultures uncomfortable with the idea. For this reason, the Trolls are careful to use words that imply willing employment rather than ownership. Trolls are large and lumbering with a wide, strong, sturdy frame. They have generally rounded features with shorter sturdy legs and thick hide-like skin, similar to a rhinoceros, which can vary in color from light tan to gray. Many Trolls do not have any sort of hair, but those who do have coarse hair with thick cordlike fibers. Trolls are very prone to physical mutation, which causes a wide array of body shapes, sizes, and features. For example, some Trolls have tusks, while others have knobby horn-like protrusions on their head or shoulders. Some even develop scaley structures on their shoulders or back.
